The study proposes a methodology for producing probabilistic flood hazard maps based on an ensemble of 2-D hydrodynamic model and frequency analysis of discharge data.

This model may be applied for forewarning stake holders in the probably affected area within the Brahmaputra valley or elsewhere. Based on this the spatial variation of simulated flood inundation of 20 years return period closely matches with the observed inundation. The most vulnerable zone within the floodplain area is identified considering random breaching locations.
