The Chirang District, one of the four districts of BTAD, is functioning with effect from 4/6/2004 deriving areas from undivided Bongaigaon District comprising of Borobazar Dev. Block & Part of  Manikpur,Sidli & dangtol Dev. Block; Gobardhanna Block of Barpeta District(Part), Chakchaka Block of Barpeta District (Part), and part of undivided Kokrajhar District.
