The initiative, “Batsalya Hosangabad,” was launched in Hosangabad district, Madhya Pradesh in 2010-2011 to tackle the issue of malnourishment in children, which is also a major issue in the country. With 15.8 per cent underweight children and 2.4 per cent children extremely underweight in the district, there arose a need for an integrated and converged approach towards solving the issue.  An inter-departmental and inter-sectoral approach was adopted in the district to solve the problem of malnutrition, which led to effective and efficient utilisation of resources.
