In spite of astonishing achivements in the field of Science and Technology, nature remains to be a mystery for human beings. Though water is also being obtained through desalination, artifiial rain by cloud seeding etc. in some of the developed countries, the shortage of water even for drinking purpose is a perpetual phenomenon throughtout the world, especially in developing and underdeveloped countries. India is likely to experience 'Wter Stress' from the year 2007 onwards it will be pertinent to shift the thrust of the policies from 'Water Development' to 'Susteainable water Development'. A vital element of this shift in strategy is the increasing importance of Water Harvesting and Atificial Recharge of Ground Water.
