Bangladesh has earned global appreciation for its commendable progress in reducing disaster risk of its large section of population vulnerable to disasters. 
<p>In recognition of this success, Bangladesh last May won the prestigious UN-Sasakawa Award 2013 jointly with Brazil for its commendable success in reducing disaster risk at  community  level  and  also  for  championing  advocacy  on  Disaster  Risk  Reduction (DRR) at global level.
