The exercise was held under the aegis of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India. The overall objective of the Exercise was to review the state & district Disaster Management plans, to identify the gaps and enhance coordination among the stakeholders and responding agencies on the principle of Incident Response System (IRS). This exercise also harnessed the strengths and capabilities of the emergency responders, district administrations, hospitals, Non-Governmental Organizations etc. as they prepare to meet the earthquake catastrophes in the state of Assam which as it located in the most vulnerable seismic zone i.e. Zone-V. It provided an opportunity to various agencies to work together and practice a multi- disciplinary, coordinated response to a mega disaster. Finally, the exercise helped in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the emergency management plans and helped in future preparedness. The exercise was conducted in association with a number of agencies viz.
